CUCL #3803 at Fourth Street & Armory Avenue in Champaign. Photograph taken December 29, 1970 by A.J. Reinschmidt. This was the only non 3610 in the CUCL fleet
Prior to the MTD's assumption of operations, bus service was provided by Champaign-Urbana City Lines, a division of National City Lines until 1/66. After that date, a number of Illinois NCL properties were transferred to Westover Transit. All CUCL service was provided by GM old looks. City buses were painted the modern 2 tone NCL green. The Campus student route (ILLIBUS/Orchard Downs) was operated by buses painted in the old NCL "Fruit Salad" colors...

...A campus employee route (Assembly Hall) was operated with buses painted in a "negative" version of the NCL green scheme (dark green body lite green stripe). # is shown on a charter at 5th and Armory in 196 . It was the only TDH-3609 on the property. All other buses were 3610s. No CUCL buses were sold to the MTD, although 3610s would still be seen on the streets. Most CUCL 3610s later saw service in Bloomington-Normal replacing BNCLs 2708s and 3612s (older replacing newer!)
