B&O 80463 viewsThis photo shows Baltimore & Ohio bus #80 parked in front of their Rockefeller Center terminal on 49th St. The terminal is partially visible to the left of the bus. These buses, manufactured by White Motors were a special edition (model #1136) that were built just for the B & O, although other carriers could purchase them as well if they so desired. Among the special features that these buses had were the one piece windshield and the special Baltimore & Ohio raised lettering above the windows that was
CARTA 928438 viewsTailend of a retired 35-ft 1973 GMC T6H4523A CARTA bus in Chattanooga, TN. Looks can be deceiving- this bus appears to be in fine shape but the entire front end had been completely cannibalized by CARTA (used for parts). Photo taken by Mike Gallant in May, 1998.

CARTA 954377 viewsRetired 1973 GMC T6H4523A sitting in a back lot at the CARTA facility in Chattanooga. Notice the unique square windows before the back door. All of CARTA's GMC New Looks were retrofitted with wheelchair lifts - a third door was fabricated to accomodate the wheelchair-bound. Photograph taken in May, 1998 by Mike Gallant.

337 viewsI briefly visited Montgomery, Alabama to check out the Montgomery Area Transit System (MATS) and was suprised to see that this bus fleet is entirely 1974 and 1976 (counted 38 buses) GMC Fishbowl buses. This is the OLDEST bus fleet in the United States. All of the GMC buses have been retrofitted with wheelchair lifts (same retrofit as CARTA GMC buses in Chattanooga, TN) so they don't get hassled by the FTA. Believe it or not- MATS only runs Mon-Fri at rush hours! No midday or weekend service at all. But the good thing is that these buses look like they're in excellent condition. This makes sense since most are probably not used at all
FACC 4506111 viewsHere is a Northbound Bus on Fifth Avenue. That good looking child is a 2 year old Hart Bus. Yes, at one time I was not bald.

9342106 viewsThis bus is my baby. This is the first bus that I ever drove. I take a lot of pride in this bus. It is not driven by anyone else but me. I started driving a school bus right out of High School
