Jones Beach bus 1935324 viewsAlong the boardwalk of Jones Beach, there are several placards of old photos, a bit faded by the sun. I posted this a few years ago on old Bus Talk, and I believe I never learned the model, make, and company.

433 viewsI briefly visited Montgomery, Alabama to check out the Montgomery Area Transit System (MATS) and was suprised to see that this bus fleet is entirely 1974 and 1976 (counted 38 buses) GMC Fishbowl buses. This is the OLDEST bus fleet in the United States. All of the GMC buses have been retrofitted with wheelchair lifts (same retrofit as CARTA GMC buses in Chattanooga, TN) so they don't get hassled by the FTA. Believe it or not- MATS only runs Mon-Fri at rush hours! No midday or weekend service at all. But the good thing is that these buses look like they're in excellent condition. This makes sense since most are probably not used at all

BARTA 916362 viewsex-BARTA #916, privatly owned, sitting in the weeds at the former site of the Reading Company (railroad) Technical & Historical Society in Leesport, Pennsylvania, north of Reading. Several companion Fishbowl and old looks under the care and custody of John Stoudt were moved to the RCT&HS's new location in Hamburg, PA about five years ago, where they are stored inside, however the 916, owned by someone else didn't make the trip.
